How much is the adoption fee?Our adoption fee is $125 per cat—and it goes a long way in helping give our cats a healthy, happy start in their new homes. This includes all their basic vet care: spay/neuter surgery, distemper and rabies vaccines, FIV/FeLV testing, and any extra medical attention they may have needed while with us.
You're not just adopting—you’re giving a cat a fresh start, and we’re so grateful you’re part of that journey. How old do you need to be to adopt? To help ensure the best possible future for our cats, adopters must be at least 21 years old to submit an application.
For senior adopters, we also kindly ask for information about a trusted alternative caretaker, just in case circumstances ever change. It’s one more way we work together to make sure every cat is loved and cared for for life. I'm unable to come during open hours, may I make an appointment?Absolutely! If you're hoping to meet our cats outside of open hours, we'd be happy to set up a time for you. Potential adopters can schedule a visit, and once you're approved, you can also make an appointment to meet—or even bring home—your new furry friend!
All appointments are arranged directly with our owner, Karen. Just text at 815-482-4486 to get started. She’d love to hear from you! How do I start volunteering? The best way to start volunteering is to stop by during our open hours. It’s a great opportunity to learn the basics, meet the cats, and get comfortable helping out. As you spend more time with us, you’ll naturally be able to take on more responsibility.
Volunteers under 16 are welcome, but we ask that they’re accompanied by an adult during their time at the shelter. And no matter your age, there’s always a way to help— even our youngest volunteers can make a difference for the cats. Any other times for volunteering must be made by appointment with Karen at 815-482-4486 |
How long does the application process take? We’re so excited you’re ready to welcome a rescue cat into your life! Most adopters hear back from us within a week of applying. Occasionally, things get a little busy at the rescue or we receive a high volume of applications—if that happens, it might take up to two weeks to get back to you.
Thanks for your patience and for choosing to adopt—it means the world to us and our cats! Do you guys have any dogs? Or is it just cats? We’re primarily a cat rescue and adoption center, but on rare occasions we may take in a dog when there’s an urgent need or special circumstance. When this happens, dogs are always placed in loving foster homes rather than housed at our rescue.
If we do have a dog available for adoption, they’ll be shared just like our cats—because every animal deserves the chance to find a safe, happy home. I have some donations, when would be a good time to drop them off? That’s so kind of you—thank you! Our open hours (Sunday, 12pm-3pm; Wednesday 4pm-7pm; and Friday 4pm-7pm) are the perfect time to swing by with any cat donations you’d like to share. We’ll be there to greet you and make sure everything goes to good use for the cats in our care.
We (and the kitties!) truly appreciate your generosity. When are you open?
We are opened on the following days:
